Is a Minor Antilles island country in the southern Caribbean Sea and the Dutch Caribbean region, approximately 65 kilometers (40 miles) north of the Venezuelan coast. It is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Located in the tropics, just 12° north of the Equator — and outside of the hurricane belt — Curacao has a warm, sunny climate year-round. The average temperature is about 27° C (mid 80s F).
There are several malls, and shopping centers on the Island.
Curacao’s beaches are its best-kept secret. The best beaches are not the long, expansive patches of sand found in other islands, but rather smaller, more intimate beaches found in secluded inlets, called “bocas” in Papiamentu. Many of the best beaches are found at the west end of the island, which is fittingly named Westpunt, or “west point”.
Curacao currency is the Antillean guilder (also called the florin), which is abbreviated as Nafl. Our Ang. U.S. dollars circulate freely, so it is possible to get by using only American dollars or credit cards.
